Review: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup

Blended out swatch

Product: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Natural Beige

Price: $11.99 at Ulta

Description:

"Liquid foundation is infused with an exclusive blend of antioxidants and SPF 20 to help retain skin¿s youthful glow. Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup Exclusive Antioxidant Blend SPF 20 by Neutrogena features a silky, lightweight formula that blends on easily."

What's Good About It?

I really like this foundation - it's one of my favourites. This shade is around an NC30 so it a touch too light for me right now but in the next month or two, it'll be the perfect shade for me. The coverage is good but it doesn't look cakey or feel heavy. I'd say it's a medium coverage foundation. I like the finish - it's a little dewy on me but I can powder it if I want to get rid of any shine. It's a drugstore foundation so the price makes it great value for money if you're in the US.

What's Disappointing?

The SPF 20 is the only major thing which bothers me personally as I do notice quite a white cast in photos. The fact it doesn't have a pump is also a bit annoying. Others might find this foundation a bit too dewy.

Overall Score & Comment: 8/10 - this is a great foundation, I'd recommend it to almost anyone as long as they didn't have very oily skin.

NOTD: Models Own - Raspberry Crush

Models Own - Raspberry Crush

(Three Coats of Raspberry Crush, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat)

I love the colour of this! These sorts of pinks are definitely my favourite. The formula of this was pretty thin and not very opaque hence I needed three coats and even then I didn't feel it was enough. This is the last Models Own polish I had to try out and it seems to be similar to Slate Green formula-wise compared with the others which were almost opaque in one coat! I thought this was really similar to Revlon's Cherries In The Snow and it is, although this is brighter.

What do you think?

Also, I bought these little cuties today...

Sheep slippers! Teddy loves them and they're so soft. They were £4 in Primark.

NOTD: Essence - Trust In Fashion

Essence - Trust In Fashion

(Three Coats of Trust In Fashion, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat)

This little polish really surprised me; I've tried a lot of different brands over the last few weeks and this has been the easiest to apply and it's barely chipped. I've been wearing this for a couple of days now (my NOTDs are a bit out of sync but I am wearing this polish as I type!) I'd love to try some more of these!

I tried it with a (slightly streaky) matte top coat...

Review: L'Oreal Studio Secrets Smoothing Primer

(Look at the state of this packaging?! I hate the big stickers Superdrug put on their products!)

A close up of the texture

Product: L'Oreal Studio Secrets Smoothing Primer

Price: £14.29 from Superdrug

Description:

"L'Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer is inspired by professional make-up artists, this primer masks wrinkles and uneven textures in the skin, making the complexion feel smooth and soft, with a remarkable velvety touch."

What's Good About It?

I feel it does what it's supposed to in that it does smooth out my skin. I tend to use this only on my t-zone area and a little on my cheeks where I have larger pores. I find if I pat it into those areas, it definitely helps. I was a bit worried that the little pot wouldn't last very long but you really don't need a lot of this; the amount I have on my hand in the photo above is probably a bit too much for me but would be enough to cover a whole face. It's not too greasy either; it leaves you with a pretty matte base for your foundation.

What's Disappointing?

To be honest, this product doesn't wow me. There are better primers out there, there are worse primers out there. My main issue with this primer is the price. £14.29 is a lot of pay for a small 15ml pot of primer from a drugstore brand. I can't really comment on how it works on wrinkles because I don't have any so it's possible that this primer would work better on more mature skin. I don't think it will work for people with dry skin either as it might be too drying.

Overall Score & Comment: 4/10 - I'll use this up because it does sort of work for me but I won't be repurchasing.

NOTD: Essie - Topless & Barefoot

Essie - Topless & Barefoot

(Three coats of Topless & Barefoot, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat)

I like this as a neutral polish; it's the sort of shade I'd wear if I had a job interview or was going to a wedding or something. The formula was a touch streaky so it needed three coats and it has chipped off a bit (probably because the last coat I put on was pretty thick!) The colour is nice; not too pink, not too beige. I think I'll need to pick up the full size of this some time!
