My MAC Lipstick Collection

I'm on fire with these collection posts, aren't I?

MAC lipsticks are one of my all time favourite make up products. I don't know what it is about them; I think I like the huge range of shades and finishes they come in and the fact they're relatively reasonably priced. I did have more but I've used up a few recently and sold a few in blog sales. I have 14 right now (well, I have 15 but I can't find Lush Amber anywhere!) so here's a quick run down of them.

Delectable Mattene
This is limited edition from the Posh Paradise collection. I wasn't going to pick up any of the Mattenes as I'm not the biggest fan of matte lipsticks. This did convert me a little, though as it's very creamy and not drying at all. I do find myself reaching for this quite often. I really like the packaging too, I can't remember how much this was but it's not available anymore so I guess it doesn't matter! I'll be looking out for any new Mattene shades in new collections.

Red Dwarf Pro Longwear Lipcreme
'A blue pink'
I think MAC's description is way off here! It's more of a dark raspberry rosy shade in my opinion. This was a limited edition shade as it came out with the Daphne Guinness collection but it's still available on the MAC website (link) priced at £16.50 for 3.6g of product. I like the packaging but sometimes find the lid doesn't close properly. I love the colour on me and have used it a lot more than I thought I would. It's not something I was expecting to like but I do. It looks great with taupe eyeshadow shades. One issue I have with it is that it leaves a bit of a sticky feeling on my lips so I usually add some lip balm on top.

The next four are all limited edition shades which is why I've kept them separate. I know it's probably a bit unfair to show these but I picked up Toxic Tale from a blog sale recently so if you keep an eye out, these shades do crop up here and there.

Cut A Caper
(Lustre)
This came out in the Tartan Tale collection a couple of Christmases ago. It's a really pretty orangey peach shade. I wear this one quite a bit. I think Lustre formulas are one of my favourites.

Ever Hip
(Cremesheen)
This is one of those shades everyone seems to want. Honestly I only bought it because of the hype and for the longest time it just sat there unused. Recently I've been wearing this quite a bit, though. I think I was expecting it to be less pink than it comes out on my lips. It's a nice shade; a bit brighter than my usual every day lipsticks but not too in your face.

Innocence, Beware!
(Cremesheen)
This is one of the latest additions to my MAC lipstick collection as it has just been repromoted in the Shop MAC Cook MAC collection. I was a bit worried this would be too pink or too stark on me but I really like it when it's applied lightly and I like it even more used in conjunction with brighter shades to tone them down a bit. I do think that Blankety from the permanent line is a similar shade, though.

Toxic Tale
(Satin)
This is one of the brightest lipsticks I own and I think I'd need bigger lips to pull it off, to be honest! I do love the colour - it's an orange-coral sort of shade. As it's a Satin, it's super pigmented. I'm not a fan of the Disney packaging!

These are the three Viva Glam lipsticks I own. I like that the full price I pay goes straight to the MAC Aids Fund.

Viva Glam Nicki
'Bright yellow pink' (Satin)
This another new addition as it only came out recently. This is almost neon in person but I love how it looks with Innocence, Beware! on top. (link)

Viva Glam Gaga II
'Light neutral beige' (Amplified)
This was supposed to only be available for a year but it's still available on the MAC website (link) so I'd grab it now if you think you'd like it. This can look a bit too nude on me so I like to add a gloss on top to alter the colour a little.

Viva Glam I
'Intense brownish blue-red' (Matte)
This is one of my favourite reds; it's a sort of brick red on me. I do find the matte formula to be a little drying so I tend to add a gloss on top. I have quite thin lips and the matte finish tends to make them look a little smaller. I'd recommend this to anyone with a warmer skin tone. You can find it here (link).

L-R: VG Nicki, VG Gaga II, VG I

Finally here are the five lipsticks I have from the permanent line. I thought I had more than five but I think I just get sucked into the hype when limited edition shades come out so I end up going for those and neglecting the permanent shades.

Chatterbox
'Bright red-pink' (Amplified)
I did a FOTD with this recently - I was a bit surprised by how much I like this shade on me. It's pigmented, wears well and isn't drying at all. It's bright but not as bright as something like Viva Glam Nicki.

Blankety
'Soft pink beige' (Amplified)
This is like a more pigmented, less glossy version of Innocence, Beware! and it's another newer addition to my collection so I've not used it a lot yet. It's a nice neutral nude which I think would suit a lot of skin tones.

Freckletone
'Neutral peach' (Lustre)
This is one of my favourites - it's everything I thought Shy Girl would be but wasn't. If you like peachy nudes, you need to own this.

See Sheer
'Grapefruit pink' (Lustre)
This is another favourite as it's so easy to apply and it goes with a lot of the blushes and eyeshadow shades I go for. I think this colour tends to look different on different people, on me it looks more coral whereas on others it looks more red or pink.

Dubonnet
'Deepened claret' (Amplified)
This is probably my favourite red. It's a rich, dark red and I find it to be really long wearing. I prefer this to VG I because it's much more comfortable to wear.

Phew! This took me forever! I hope it was useful to some of you. Please share your favourite MAC lipsticks in the comments, I'm always on the lookout for more to add to my wish list!

Stace xx
