Review: MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara

The thicker wand

The thinner wand

Me wearing the mascara

Product: MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara in Black

Price: £17.50 from MAC

Description:

"A two-in-one mascara that lets you choose if you want lashes to  be naturally defined or instantly combed and loaded for full on drama. Easy to use dual-wiper system allows this lightweight formula to go on either way. One wiper refines the application for a clean sweep, while the other loads the lashes for greater impact"

What's Good About It?

Well, I got this when MAC were giving one away free to customers who tried to place an order and couldn't because the online shop wasn't working properly so I guess I haven't lost anything on this mascara regardless of what I think of it. Initially I really didn't like it, the formula was very wet and made my lashes horribly clumpy when I used the thicker wand. It took forever to dry and was generally a mess. However, now that it's dried out a little, I do like it a lot more. I wouldn't say it's love but I do like the fact I have a choice of wands. I use the thinner ones on days when I want a super natural look and when I want more dramatic lashes I use the thicker wand first and then go over it with the thinner wand to separate out my lashes. It gives a reasonable amount of length and volume.

What's Disappointing?

I'm one of those people who thinks drugstore mascaras are just as good as high end ones so I don't think this mascara is really worth the price. There are some good dupes of this concept of two different wands out there. As I mentioned before, initially the formula is horrible! Also, I do find that this transfers on me quite badly but this is something I usually struggle with unless I'm wearing a waterproof mascara.

Overall Score & Comment: 5/10 - this is just okay, I won't be repurchasing but I will continue to enjoy it until it dries up.

Have you tried this? What's your favourite mascara?

Stace xx

  1. Price is really not an issue for me, and this is cheaper than what I'm currently using, so I may give this a look. I have a similar product, at the moment!
