Tag: Seven Deadly Sins!

I'm finally getting around to doing this tag. I don't make YouTube videos so I've decided to do it as a blog post instead. Here goes!

1. GREED - What is your most inexpensive beauty product? What is your most expensive?

My most inexpensive beauty products are probably my Wet'n'Wild single eyeshadows. I have the shades Brulee and Nutty. The quality of these is great the only reason I don't use them more is that I tend to use palettes more often. Nutty is a gorgeous shimmery taupe and Brulee is a matte highlight shade.

My most expensive make up product is my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, I think! I'm sort of surprised by that as I never consider it to be a luxury item or anything; probably because it's pretty good value for money. I do use this quite often.

A while back my boyfriend went through my collection working out how much a product cost per millilitre or gram. He must have been bored! I think he was hoping I'd stop buying overpriced products. Anyway, he found that my Chanel Illusion D'Ombres were the  most pricey per gram.

2.
WRATH - What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What has been hardest to find?

In general, I have a love/hate relationship with mascaras. A lot of them run on me so even if I love the effect they give, the panda eyes I end up with make me dislike the mascara. The ones which don't run on me are always a pain to remove which is also annoying. I just can't win!

I don't often go in search of products which aren't easily available but I guess MAC Cut A Caper lipstick was a bit hard to find as I'd missed out on it when it was released. I managed to pick it up in a blog sale, though. I wasn't dying to get my hands on it but I did want to try it.

3. GLUTTONY - What are your most delicious beauty products?

Oh! My MAC Tendertone in Purring is my latest most delicious beauty product. It smells so yummy and fruity.

4. SLOTH - What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

I'm not sure if I neglect this product due to laziness or due to lack of technique! I never, ever use bronzer. I've tried a few and no matter how many tutorials I watch I always end up looking/feeling stupid with it on. I have a medium skintone so it's not that it looks too harsh or anything. I don't know! Post your bronzer advice below, please!

5. PRIDE - What beauty product gives you more confidence?

I'd have to say foundation because when my skin looks nice and even, I feel a lot better about my face.

6.
LUST - What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Hmm...I could give a really soppy answer about my lovely boyfriend but I don't think that would have much relevance to this post!

7. ENVY - What item would you most like to receive as a gift?

I love receiving perfume as a gift. I never buy expensive perfume for myself unless I've been given money for Christmas or my birthday so it's nice to receive it as a gift. I have my beady eye on a couple of the new DKNY Be Delicious scents for summer. They smell gorgeous!

That's all folks! Have you done this tag? Leave me a link!

Tag: 42 Beauty Questions II

Next up, make up:

11) What foundation do you use?
I'm currently using NARS Sheer Glow but I also enjoy Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua and Make Up Forever HD. I've got a Bobbi Brown Skin foundation to use up, too.

12) How about concealer?

I have quite a few of those as well. I'm using Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection right now but I also like Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer and Bobbi Brown Corrector and Creamy Concealer.

13) Do you know your undertone colour?

I'm a little yellow toned - think NC in MAC.

14) What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I just received some recently, actually. I've never used them. I prefer natural lashes with mascara.

15) Did you know you were supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yep, and I do.

16) What brand of mascara do you use?
Mostly BeneFit's They're Real but I'm also using L'Oreal Telescopic and Bobbi Brown Everything at the moment. They're Real is on its last legs.

17) Sephora or Mac?
MAC...We don't have Sephora in the UK, unfortunately.

18) Do you have a Mac Pro card?
Nope.

19) What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
I use brushes for most things.

20) Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?
Yes, I always use Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

21) For the face?

I usually use one. At the moment I'm using MUFE HD primer. It's just okay.

22) What is your favourite eyeshadow? Colour or shade?
I tend to stick to neutral shades - usually something in the 'taupe' family. I like Patina from MAC and the lid shades in both Urban Decay Naked palettes.

23) Do you use pencil or liquid liner?
I mostly use pencil liner (Milani Liquif'Eye). I'd use a gel liner over a liquid liner any day.

24) How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Umm...not very often? I've had more accidents with a mascara wand than an eye liner pencil.

25) What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
Normally, I can't stand them. I own one which I received in a beauty box. It's nice but I don't think I'll be buying any more.

26) Do you use mineral makeup?
Nope.

27) What is your favourite lipstick?
I have to choose one?! My favourite nude shade right now is MAC's Lush Amber, which was limited addition. My favourite bold lipstick is probably Viva Glam I from MAC.

28) How about lipgloss?
Revlon's Nude Lustre Super Lustrous or Clarins Apricot Shimmer Instant Light Lip Perfector are my two favourites. I like the formula of NYX Mega Shine and Estee Lauder Pure Color glosses too, though.

29) What is your favourite blush to use?
Argh! It's so hard to choose. My all-time favourites are MAC Warm Soul and Dior Peachy Keen. I also love MAC Peaches and NARS Gina right now.

30) Do you buy your makeup on Ebay?
No, I don't really buy anything from EBay to be honest.

31) Do you like drugstore makeup?
As with any brand/price point, I like some of what the drugstore has to offer. My problem with cheaper make up is that I tend to buy three of everything! Revlon is my favourite drugstore brand available in the UK, particularly for lip products.

32) Do you go to CCO's? Cosmetic Company Outlet?
I think I went to one years ago but it's closed now. I don't think there are any near me.

33) Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?
Not really. I just watch lots of YouTube videos instead!

34) Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
I wouldn't say so, no. I've managed to find brushes which help me apply my make up quickly and neatly. Certain eyeliners and lipsticks are a bit messy sometimes and it is possible to be a bit heavy handed with blush but I try to stick to the 'start off with a little, you can always add more' mantra.

35) Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Really fake looking eyebrows bother me - I can't stop looking at them! Bold eyes and lips together is also too much for me. Obvious contour 'stripes' look silly, too.

36) Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick or eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I generally stick to neutrals. I do like brighter lip colours from time to time, though.

37) Which celebrity always has great makeup?
I think women like Catherine Zeta Jones, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss always have nice make up. I like the crazy looks Katy Perry wears - I think they really suit her.

38)If you could leave the house using just ONE makeup item, what would you use?
ONE?! Are you serious? I guess I'd go for a lip balm.

39) Could you leave the house without any makeup on?
Yeah, I pop to Tesco or the Post Office all the time with no make up on but I've been in a routine this year where I put make up on every morning so unless I'm having an off day, I'm always wearing make up when I leave the house.

40) Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I have some hyper pigmentation on my chin and I get really bad dark circles so I use make up to cover those. I think I look okay with no make up on but I prefer the even skin tone I get when wearing foundation and concealer.

41) In your opinion what is the BEST makeup line?
There are lots of great brands out there. I'd say MAC is the best in terms of their colour range. I like Chanel for a bit of luxury and Revlon is my favourite budget brand. It would be really boring to stick to just one brand, though!

42) What do you think of makeup?
I think it serves two purposes. First it can be used to enhance features and cover problem areas for a bit of a confidence boost. Secondly, it is a creative outlet which allows you to experiment with different colours and formulas to find out what you like best. It can also become a rather expensive habit...

...and on that note, that is all!

Tag: 42 Beauty Questions I

I've spotted this on a few different blogs and it's been a while since I did a tag so I thought I'd do it even though I've technically not been tagged to do it. I'm basically using this as a procrastination tool! Answering questions about yourself is always fun though, right?

First up, skincare:

1) How many times do you wash your face daily?
Usually once (in the shower). I use a micellar water solution otherwise.

2) What skin type do you have?
I'd say normal/combination. It used to be much oilier and then it was dry; now it's somewhere in between.

3) What is your current facial wash?

Clinique Mild Liquid Facial Soap. For some reason my skin just loves this stuff!

4) Do you exfoliate?

I do.

5) What brand do you use?

I'm using Soap & Glory's The Greatest Scrub of All right now but I don't love it. The Body Shop's Vitamin C Microdermabrasion is much better.

6) What moisturiser do you use?

Origins Vita-Zing in the morning and Clean & Clear Dual Action at night.

7) Do you have freckles?

Nope.

8) Do you use eye cream?

I've been trying lots of samples but I'm not using one religiously at the moment. Feel free to recommend one!

9) Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I've never had acne but I do get the occasional spot (usually on my chin).

10) Did you ever have to use Pro-Activ?
Nope - I live in the UK and that always makes me think of Flora Pro-Active...

To be continued!

Tag: Holy Grail Products!

I saw this tag a while ago on Georgia's blog and decided to give it a go! So here's a list of my all-time favourite or "holy grail" products for each category...

Shampoo:  Aussie Luscious Long Shampoo is the best I've tried recently - I don't really have a HG shampoo.

Condtioner:  I don't use one - they weigh my hair down too much.

Styling products: Aussie Luscious Long Leave in Conditioner, VO5 Miracle Concentrate Elixir (review)

Shower Gel: No7 Blissful Body Wash. (overview)

Body moisturiser: Body Shop Body Butters - most scents! (overview)

Deodrant: Mitchum Advanced Control - the spray, not the roll on

Fake Tan: I never use one!

Cleanser: Clinique Mild Liquid Facial Soap

Toner: Boots Botanics Skin Brightening Toner

Serum: Clinique Turnaround

Facial Moisturisers:  Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre - I've just ran out of this, unfortunately (moisturiser overview)

Exfoliator: Soap & Glory Pulp Friction

Primer: Rimmel Match Perfection Fix & Perfect Pro or Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Foundation: Make Up Forever HD Foundation or Neutrogena Healthy Skin (review)

Foundation brush: I usually use my fingers but I do like the Real Techniques Stippling Brush with some foundations (overview)

Concealer: Either Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection or Estee Lauder Double Wear - they're very similar

Powder: MAC MSF Natural

Blusher: This is tough but my two most used are MAC Warm Soul and NARS Luster. (both shown here)

Bronzer: I don't use one - I've never found one that I like or got the hang of applying it nicely.

Highlighter: Powder highlighter - MAC Soft & Gentle, cream highlighter - BeneFit Watt's Up - it's a new find but I love it!

Eyeshadow base: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Eyeshadows: Hmm...from MAC I like Satin Taupe and Patina. I like most of the neutral Wet'n'Wild and Sleek shadows, too. I love my Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Illusoire a lot as well.

Eyebrows: Smashbox Brow Tech in Taupe/Soft Brown or any cheap clear mascara

Eyeliner: Pencil - Milani Liquif'Eye or NYX Slide On, Gel - Bobbi Brown

Mascara: BeneFit They're Real

Lipstick: MAC Slimshine in Bare

Lipgloss: Revlon Super Lustrous in Nude Lustre

Nail Colour: If you've read this blog for any length of time you'd know there's no way I could choose one nail colour! Chanel's Rouge Noir (here) would come very close to being my favourite, though. It's probably my most used.

Perfume: Dolce & Gabbana The One or Vivienne Westwood Naughty Alice...both of which I need to ask Santa for!

I hope that was interesting; it definitely got me thinking about all the products I use which I should rave about more on this blog - expect lots more reviews in the next few weeks!
